YOUR PRIVACY IS THE CREDIT UNION'S PRIORITY
Louisiana USA Federal Credit Union recognizes the importance of our
members' privacy. So naturally we want to protect the personal and
financial information you have entrusted with us. For this reason, we
would like to explain some of our procedures, which are intended to
protect your privacy.
We have adopted eight privacy principles to guide us in dealing with
consumer information. We have also outlined other procedures designed to
protect your privacy.
You should note that we cannot accept communications from someone
claiming to represent you unless the party acting for you is your
attorney, guardian, trustee or is otherwise authorized by law to
represent you.
Privacy Principles
1. Recognition of a Member's Expectation of Privacy
Louisiana USA Federal Credit Union recognizes and respects the
privacy expectations of our members.
2. Use, Collection and Retention of Member Information
Louisiana USA Federal Credit Union will collect, retain and use
information about individual members in an appropriate and reasonable
fashion. We generally limit our collection, retention and use to
information we deem necessary or appropriate to administer your accounts
to provide member services, to offer products to you, to make
opportunities available to you, and to fulfill legal and regulatory
requirements.
3. Maintenance of Accurate Information
Louisiana USA Federal Credit Union has established procedures to
help ensure that a member's financial information is accurate, current
and complete in accordance with reasonable commercial standards.
4. Limiting Employee Access to Information
Louisiana USA Federal Credit Union limits employee access to personally
identifiable information to those with a business reason for knowing
such information. We educate our employees so that they will understand
the importance of confidentiality and member privacy. Credit Union
employees are personally responsible for maintaining our members'
confidence in Louisiana USA Federal Credit Union. Employees who violate
these principles are subject to disciplinary action, including
dismissal.
5. Information Security Safeguards
Access to member information is limited to those who specifically need
it to conduct their business responsibilities, and we use appropriate
security techniques designed to protect our members' financial
information.
6. Restrictions on the Disclosure
of Account Information
Louisiana USA Federal Credit Union will not reveal specific information
about member accounts or other personally identifiable data to
unaffiliated third parties for their independent use, except for the
exchange of information with reputable information-reporting agencies to
maximize the accuracy and security of such information, or in the
performance of bona fide due diligence unless: (1) the information is
provided to help complete a member-initiated transaction; (2) the member
requests it; (3) the disclosure is required by/or allowed by law (e.g.,
subpoena, investigation of fraudulent activity, etc.)
7. Maintaining Member Privacy in Business Relations with Third
Parties
To protect your privacy, we work only with companies that agree to
maintain strong confidentiality protections and limit the use of
information that we provide. All agreements with other companies,
including joint marketing agreements, contain required confidentiality
clauses that prohibit these companies from selling the information we
provide to them to other third parties.
8. Disclosure of Privacy Principles to Member
We have developed these principles and share them with our members in
light of member concerns regarding financial privacy.
